Severe weather update, 7:40 a.m.: Power issues persist, but campus is open and classes will resume

Posted: January 10, 2024

Several buildings on our Erie Campus remain without power, which will affect operations today.

We are working with Penelec to restore electricity and heat to many of our residence halls and to some offices, but so far we have no assurances about when that will happen.

All our academic buildings as well as Nash Library and the Waldron Campus Center are open and fully operational.

We will resume classes and services in those buildings as normal this morning. Faculty and staff, unless otherwise notified by their supervisor, should report to campus as they normally would. We are contacting supervisors of buildings where employees would be without power to provide alternative locations or arrangements for work throughout the day.

Students should report to class. Classes will continue as scheduled, with added flexibility and lenience for students’ attendance if running late or unable to report to class.

Warming zones continue to be available in the Waldron Campus Center, Beyer Hall and Nash Library. We welcome you to come here to warm up, charge devices, and connect with friends and colleagues.

We will provide complimentary, pop-up grab-and-go beverages and food in Waldron, Nash Library and Palumbo for those without power. Our on-campus dining is also fully operational and open at the following times:

Many crews are working diligently across campus to keep generators running and provide alternative arrangements as quickly as possible to best accommodate our students and employees during this time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
