Posted: December 1, 2021

There are only a few weeks left in the semester and the time is now to plan a safe exit from campus and a healthy return in January for the spring semester. Our COVID-19 testing efforts can play a key foundation to that effort.

Please continue reading below for guidance and instructions on testing options and requirements in the coming weeks and returning in January for the following:

Instructions for those traveling internationally over break

(*Please note, information on surveillance testing for student-athletes, as well as spring on-boarding testing for new global students may differ from the details outlined below due to NCAA and travel guidelines. These students should follow instructions from their coaches, athletics office, or office of global support and student engagement.)

KEY DATES TO KEEP IN MIND:

DEC. 6-8 | VOLUNTARY OFF-BOARDING TESTING

Gannon will provide free, voluntary testing from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 6-8 for anyone who would like to do so before heading home for winter break. To schedule an appointment, email testappt@gannon.edu no later than 48 hours in advance of your desired test time.

JAN. 3-7 | REQUIRED RETURN-TO-WORK TESTING FOR UNVACCINATED EMPLOYEES

Employees who have not reported a fully vaccinated status to update.gannon.edu/vaccinecard will be required to complete a return-to-work test, as well as complete routine surveillance testing at least once every two weeks throughout the spring semester.

Return-to-work testing will occur between Jan. 3 and 7. Employees will receive an email from testappt@gannon.edu with detailed instructions and the link to register for your desired return-to-work test appointment. An appointment must be made by Friday, Dec. 10.

Employees’ routine surveillance testing for the spring semester will be scheduled on-site at the Testing Center upon arrival for your return-to-work testing.

Please see the “Spring Semester Surveillance Testing Schedule” below for information on when testing will be offered to assist you in planning around your work schedule and obligations in advance of your arrival.

JAN. 8 | REQUIRED TESTING AND MOVE-IN FOR UNVACCINATED STUDENTS

Students living on- and off-campus who have not reported a fully vaccinated status to update.gannon.edu/vaccinecard will be required to complete an on-boarding test with Gannon, as well as complete routine surveillance testing at least once every two weeks throughout the spring semester.

On-boarding testing for unvaccinated students will occur from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8. Students will receive an email from testappt@gannon.edu with detailed instructions and the link to register for your desired time during this day. On-boarding testing must be completed at Gannon; tests conducted off campus will not be accepted for return to campus. An appointment must be made by Friday, Dec. 10.

An on-boarding test must be completed prior to moving into all on-campus residences. Students should time their test and move-in time accordingly and plan to complete a *limited quarantine until test results are received.

Routine surveillance testing for the spring semester for students will be scheduled on-site at the Testing Center upon arrival for your on-boarding test.

Please see the “Spring Semester Surveillance Testing Schedule” below for information on when testing will be offered to assist you in planning around your class schedule and university obligations in advance of your arrival.

Detailed instruction regarding move-in for residents of Gannon-owned properties will be provided by the Office of Residence Life in the coming weeks.

*Limited quarantine means you are limited to only attending educational and university obligations and picking up to-go meals until you receive negative test results. Residents will be provided food immediately after their test to limit their exposure outside their room. Masks will be strongly encouraged while in your room if you are not alone and are required out of your room while attending university obligations.

JAN. 9 | MOVE-IN FOR VACCINATED STUDENTS AND STUDENTS IN 90-DAY PRIOR+ WINDOW

HAVE YOU TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 IN THE LAST 90 DAYS?

Students and employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90-days prior to the start of the Spring semester should ensure that their positive test result is on file with the Gannon Health Center in order to follow guidelines for fully vaccinated or 90-day prior-positive individuals. To report being in the 90-day window from a COVID+ diagnosis, please email your test results to hlthcoun@gannon.edu

WANT TO BE CONSIDERED FULLY VACCINATED FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER?

You are considered “fully vaccinated” with the university two weeks after your final dose of your vaccine regardless of the particular type of vaccine received, and after you’ve submitted a copy of your vaccine card at https://update.gannon.edu/vaccinecard. For example, if you are returning to campus Jan. 9, the last day to receive your final vaccine dose would be Dec. 25.

View the PA Department of Health Vaccine Provider map below or access your state’s map to find a location with available vaccine appointments near you.

If you have questions about the timing of your vaccine and move-in, please contact hlthcoun@gannon.edu and our nursing team would be happy to assist you.
