Vaccines strongly encouraged as we assess changes in CDC guidance

Posted: May 14, 2021

The CDC announced new, relaxed guidance that is a sharp reminder to us of the benefits of getting vaccinated.

Pennsylvania will follow the CDC’s announcement yesterday that says fully vaccinated individuals can resume activities that they did prior to the pandemic without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by law, rule and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance. Florida announced Monday that it was lifting all restrictions.

Individuals are still required to wear a mask on planes, buses, trains and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the U.S., and in U.S. transportation hubs, such as airports and stations. All individuals will still need to follow guidance at workplaces and local businesses.

Gannon University will continue to require masks as we evaluate how many students, faculty and staff are vaccinated and thereby would be able to take advantage of the CDC’s and state’s latest guidance. Our ability to create feasible, practical approaches and on-campus rules that will align with CDC guidelines and serve all will depend heavily on how vaccinated our campus is come August. Our goal is to avoid restrictions as much as possible and to support each member of our community to receive the vaccination.
