Severe Weather Update, 3:45 p.m. - Power restored to some buildings
Posted: January 10, 2024
Power has been restored to several buildings, but it still remains out at some others. We are continuing to work with Penelec to receive updates on when to anticipate those buildings having power.
North Hall, Finegan, University Services Building and the Rec Center are back online, joining all our academic buildings, Wehrle Hall, Kenilworth, and West Hall. Their electricity, heat and hot water systems have been restarted. The RWC will reopen at 4 p.m.
At this time, we are planning to continue holding classes as planned Thursday and Friday and will extend additional accommodations to our residential students who are still impacted by power outages. These include the following:
- Warming zones will continue overnight through tomorrow morning at Waldron Campus Center and Nash Library. After midnight, please be respectful of quiet hours and for Nash Library use the North Entrance off Sixth Street, for Waldron use the entrance on the west side of the building closest to the Wright Room and Power Room off of AJ’s Way.
- Knight Watch van will be operational for those needing a warm ride on campus. Use the “Go Safe” feature in the LiveSafe app to request a ride.
- Free, overnight stay is available in the Power Room of Waldron Campus Center. Please report to the Wright Room by midnight to request a cot (temporary, pop-up bed) to sleep on tonight if you’d like.
Residential students should watch for an update from the Office of Residence Life shortly to the email you registered your housing account with. This update will include an assessment of students’ needs, as well as on- and off-campus overnight options available to you.
For now, please stay safe and stay warm and share any questions or concerns here: University Questions Form
