Weather alert: Ruskin Campus to shift to remote learning Monday and Tuesday

Posted: October 6, 2024

We are shifting to remote instruction Monday, Oct. 7, and Tuesday, Oct. 8, as Hurricane Milton gains strength in the Gulf of Mexico and heads our way.

The storm is expected to hit the west coast of Florida near Tampa sometime Wednesday afternoon – perhaps as a major hurricane.

Please take precautions. This storm is likely to have a life-threatening storm surge in addition to high winds and heavy rain.

Our Ruskin Campus will be closed for the week – Monday and Tuesday as we prepare for the storm, and then Wednesday through the weekend for the already-scheduled fall break. Monday’s “Baby Day” will be rescheduled.

As of now, our plan is to return to in-person instruction on Monday, Oct. 14. Of course, when we reopen in person will depend on a post-storm assessment of our campus and the surrounding community.

This is our current plan. As we closely monitor and receive more precise information on the storm or if the county issues any additional emergency response protocols, we may adjust plans accordingly -- so please stay attentive to our regular updates.

We will offer other updates throughout the week and next weekend as needed. As always, your safety is our top priority.
