Weather update: Gannon's Erie campus to reopen Thursday

Posted: December 4, 2024

The safety of our students and employees is of the utmost importance to us along with our commitment to our students' education. We are weighing all information related to the weather as well as all local and regional conditions impacted by this historic winter storm.

We maintain regular contact with our city and county officials, and we are making decisions based the most current and available information. We are continuing to monitor conditions and will provide regular updates to our Gannon community with any changes.

We intend to resume in-person instruction on Thursday, Dec. 5, as previously communicated. Many students have already returned to campus in preparation for their classes and for Finals Week.

In addition, we are hosting the Women's Volleyball NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional beginning Thursday morning, and our Winter Commencement will be held Sunday, Dec. 8.

We encourage our students and their families to evaluate their individual situation and take responsibility for their own safety.

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to use their best judgment when deciding to travel to campus or determining a need to leave early during times of inclement weather.

If a student does miss class due to weather conditions, it is important they communicate with their faculty members as soon as possible and make arrangements for their work.

For employees, Thursday and Friday are in-person workdays.

Our team has been working tirelessly to clear the sidewalks and buildings to ensure students have access to our campus. These efforts will be ongoing as we continue to see lake effect snow throughout our winter season.
